Once upon a time, there was a Yahoo group called Oz Lyric Wheel.
Songs were hummed, stories were written, and all was right with the world.

It's been a while since I've posted. A lot has happened, but I'll save that for another post. For now, I have a story, and some good news.

Buffy fans, or at least Spike/Xander fans, will be glad to know that laazikaat has been seen lurking around SpanderFiles, and she's made a few changes. Okay, maybe lurking is the wrong word...since she's the owner and all, but you know what I mean. She's simplified the face of the site, to make it easier to access on mobile devices, and she's added the endings to a few longer works that had been ongoing since she'd last been around. She hasn't started adding any new works, but it's a start, and we're glad to see her back. Yay!!!

It looks like maybe Lady Q is back as well, since I saw her leaving Spander story announcements on the ShoutBox recently. Yay! Which leads me to my final piece of good news: stillrose is back, and has finished There's Always a Sneer in Vegas! Woo hoo!!!! Applause! Cheers!!!! You can't tell I'm excited, can you? She's only been writing it for about a gazillion years! Okay, close to a decade, but that's close enough. I haven't read the last several chapters, yet, so DON'T SPOIL ME!!! Thanks. Anyway, if you haven't read it yet, but you like Apocafictic Spander, with a side of ... everything, you should read Sneer. Really. You should. I occasionally twinge at a typo, but these things happen, and at close to 350,000 words, this is an epic story that deserves to be read. So do it. Oh, it's on AO3 now, as well: There's Always a Sneer in Vegas

This story was intended for August 2 on Summer of Oz, but I just got it finished last night. It's a good thing I talked ozsaur into giving us an amnesty for fic that didn't make it onto their respective days, huh? Whew! It's a lot longer than I expected, and not as humorous as intended. As a matter of fact, it got plain old angsty there for a minute or two. But it does have some humor in it, so I'm keeping that in the header, so there.

REPOST: I planned to leave this post open on smutday , so those who don't watch Smutday could still see the post, but I found out I can't open just one post, when the community is locked, so I'm reposting this here on my journal, for anyone who's interested. Feel free to share.

Several days ago, I found out that smutday had lost one of its very first members, one of its earliest posters, and a regular commenter. You knew her at Live Journal as sidlj, and at Dreamwidth as sid. I've known her for at least eight years, now, I guess. Though we didn't speak often, we shared stories, icons, and numerous pretty pictures here on Smutday. She betaed several stories for me, and over the years, I've written several stories at her request, and made a handful of icons just for her. It really hurt to hear that she was gone, and it took me several days to realize that there was no better tribute I could make to Sid, than to dedicate a post to her.

Before we get to the pictures, I wanted to link to the stories that Sid either wrote for smutday, or at least posted here. You can find them at the fic by Sid tag. While I'm talking about her fic, paian wrote a beautiful memorial to Sid, and a wonderful rec list of her fic - you can find that list here.

This is the second of my three fall_for_sx stories. It's part of a loose series, but you don't have to have read the first story to read this one. It's based on the Season Two episode Reptile Boy, but all you need to know about that episode is that Buffy and Cordelia go to a fraternity house for a party, but all the frat boys want to do is feed them to a giant snake-creature.
